Water Sports Activities and Events

St. Croix, surrounded by the Caribbean Sea, is a mecca for water sports activities and events. With many properties to choose from in this V.I. Real Estate location, there is a spot to call your own and have St. Croix as your home base to enjoy all the water sports available.

Not only can you visit a beach for a quick dip in the crystal clear water, but you can take your family to a quiet beach, where there is usually very few other people. Bring your own chairs and food and set up under the shade of palm trees that grow near the water and stay for the whole day. There are many beaches where you can drive practically to the beach, so you don't have a long way to haul your supplies from your car to the beach. If you are in St. Croix during the "Season" from December to April, there will be very few people at the beach, as the air and water temperatures are cooler. The acclimated locals usually spend more time at the beach during the Summer months when the temperatures of both water and air are much warmer. Bring your snorkeling gear and watch all the fish and marine life dart around the corrals.

There are many beaches with great restaurants nearby in this great V.I. Real Estate location. If you choose one of these beaches, you can relax on one of the restaurant's lounge chairs near the beach and then have a leisurely lunch or brunch with great food served with a Caribbean flair. Enjoy a frozen drink while relaxing and enjoying the beautiful sea view, and all the activity of everyone around you.

If you like sailing, this is a wonderful place for that activity. At many beaches, there are small boats to lease from the water-sports concessions. You could also book a trip on one of the captained catamarans that take visitors or residents for a day trip to nearby Buck Island, located off of St. Croix's East End. Once you arrive, you're provided with snorkel gear to enjoy fish and corral formations at the only underwater U.S. National Park. If your bit of V.I. Real Estate is located on the East End of St. Croix overlooking Buck Island National Park, you'll have daily views of all this sailing activity. It is so beautiful to see the white sails of the boats, outlined against the turquoise blue water.

If deep sea fishing is what you want to do, there are many boats that take you to the best spots to catch some huge fish. They haul the catch up on the dock to weigh it, and sometimes it's a record breaker.

One of the annual boating events is the Christmas Lighted Boat Parade. It's open to anyone with a boat, from large yachts and sailboats down to the smallest dingy. Everyone decorates with Christmas lights, and the larger boats have had bands and dancers on board. The boats line up at one end of Christiansted Harbor and follow in line, motoring around Hotel On The Cay, which is a small island in the middle of the harbor. All the boats pass very close to the Christiansted boardwalk, so everyone has a great view. There are steel pan bands playing Christmas music at the waterfront, and a huge fireworks display after the boat parade.

Whether you get really active and participate in a variety of activities, or just relax on the beach and enjoy the ambiance, just watching all the activity around you, it's all up to you. St. Croix as your V.I. Real Estate location, offers you many different water sports activities and events to enjoy.
